October 2007

I am aware that the above photo is of the “Pirates who don’t do anything”…but if they were called the Pirates who don’t KNOW anything…it would be a good representation of how the meeting went today.

We were asked to be apart of a family meeting for the refugee family that we have been involved in over the last year.  Health and Welfare was there, the families that have been a critical part of the care of the kids,  as well as a hired 3rd party to mediate.

We talked and talked about action plans and other things…stuff and things…stuff and stuff…it was very frustrating that nothing got resolved or answered for us. I know that what I am typing probably doesn’t make any sense at all, but trust me, if you were in the room with us…you wouldn’t have any better idea.

What I did learn is this.  H&W does not have the power to remove kids from a home.  The Police or a court are the only 2 entities that have that power.  H&W is a reactive agency not a preventative agency.  Something has to happen for them to take action.

That is all I can share with you all…I don’t know anything…you don’t know anything…

What I did walk away from this meeting is that H&W now has a baseline for the concerns for the kids.

We have established that baseline a long time ago, and now they have been caught up to speed.

On to the next day!

Well today we should have some sort of answer about what happens with the kiddos.  We are going to a “family meeting” that could last 3-5 hours.

I will let you all know more when I actually know something.

Not much to say other than, I don’t know anything.

The road of life is full of twists and turns.  Stay tuned for some more interesting and exciting news.

Just to give you a hint, it has nothing to do with the photo above.
